1872 - St. Procop Church was organized for the Bohemian Catholics of the southwest section
           of
Cleveland. The task of organizing was assigned to Fr. Anthony Hynek by Bishop
           RRichard Gilmore.

1874 - Two-floor church and school was erected and dedicated under the patronage of
            St. Procop.

1876 - Rev. Koudelka appointed pastor of parish. 

1882 - Dissension within the parish begins to take place.  Secret societies within the church
           are formed against the pastor.  Fr. Koudelka accepts a position as editor of a Czech
           Catholic paper and moves to Chicago.  Fr. Francis J. Antl is assigned to the parish but
           is removed within a year because of mismanagement.

1883 - Fr. Furdek is assigned to the parish, but is unable to establish peace. 

1884 - Riot breaks out between those who support Fr. Antl and those who do not.  Bishop
           Gilmour warns the parish to obey the laws of the Catholic Church.  Bishop Gilmour
           places the parish under interdict, which means to close the church.

1885 - Parishioners offer the bishop an apology for the scandal and vow obedience.  The
           Bishop removed the interdict.  On August 9, 1885, Fr. Anthony Vlcek was assigned
           pastor.  He was accepted by the people and dissension disappeared.  Church and
           school were reopened and parish begins to prosper.

1893 - Fr. Vaclav Koerner becomes the seventh pastor of the church.

1896 - Fr. Wenceslau Panuska succeeds Fr. Koerner as pastor.  He realizes need for
           modernization - the current two story school with church on second floor was not:
           practical. 

1899 - Construction of a new church begins in the Italian-Byzantine style.   Fr. Panuska
           resigns before construction is finished.  Rev. G. Murphy comes on the weekends to
           celebrate the liturgy. 

1901 - Fr. Peter Cerveny is assigned as pastor. 

1902 - Church is completed.

1907 - New school and rectory is built.  Devoted parishioners helped in the construction.
           Frs. Francis Faflik and Wenceslaus Novak were assigned to the church.  A seniors
           club for parishioners is formed.

1915 - Commercial High School is added.

1917 - First graduating class.                                                                       

1918 - Fr. Slaby was assigned as assistant pastor to the church. Helps establish the
           youth program and co-founder of the Catholic Basketball league.

1924 - Fr. Andel is appointed as second assistant.  Construction begins on a sister's
           convent.

1926 - Fr. Slaby and Fr. Andel are in an automobile accident.  Fr. Slaby loses an
           arm in the accident.  The next morning he dies from his injuries. Parish
           is in mourning.

1929 - On October 2, 1929, the church is consecrated by Bishop Schrembs.

1930 - Fr. Huzl is appointed as assistant to the parish.  Under the direction of Fr. Huzl and
           Fr. Andel, sports became an active part of the life of the school children.  Fr. Huzl
           is active in helping the needy of the parish.

1942 - Msgr. Cerveny, the pastor for 41 years, passes away.  Fr. Andel is assigned
           administrator until a replacement could be found.

1943 - Rev. John Becka is appointed pastor.  Many parishioners objected to his advanced
           age and petitioned the Bishop to rethink his decision.  Fr. Becka remains as pastor
           and despite his advanced age, works on renovating the buildings and property.

1947 - Fr. Becka becomes a Domestic Prelate. 

1949 - Fr. Becka passes away.  Fr. Uhlir, a son of one of the parishioners, is installed as
           pastor.  Parish celebrates its Diamond Jubilee.

1950 - Parish begins a Perpetual Novena to the Infant of Prague and Mother of Perpetual
           Help.  The novena is a continual devotion for the parish to this day.

1962 - Due to deterioration and costly repairs, the dome and two towers are dismantled from
           the church. 

1965 - Due to low enrollment, the high school is closed.

1972 - Fr. Uhlir retires.

1973 - Fr. James Vesely is installed as pastor of the parish.  Reforms from the Second
           Vatican are implemented.  The elementary school is closed in the mid-seventies
           due to low enrollment.

1980 - In the early 1980's, the vacant school building is rented to the Cleveland School
           Board to educate children with behavior problems.

1987 - Fr. Mark Peyton, grand-nephew of Fr. Uhlir, succeeded Fr. Vesely as the twelfth
           pastor of the parish. 

1990 - Meal program is started to provide hot meals once a week to the elderly and needy.

2002 - Fr. Peyton is assigned to St. Gregory the Great.  Sister Annette Amendolia is
           appointed Parish Life Coordinator.  Rev. Gary Yanus is appointed Presbyteral
           Moderator.  A parish life coordinator is any person who has been entrusted by the
           Diocesan Bishop with the pastoral care of a parish.  The PLC works in collaboration  
           with the canonical pastor and has the responsibility of overseeing the entire Catholic
           community within a specific locale.
